Through a long and colourful history, diner-style restaurants have brought rib-sticking, taste bud satisfying comfort food to hungry North Americans. Their beginnings were simple sandwich carts parked across from the mills and factories where they fed weary blue-collar workers and soon expanded in size and design to the sleek stainless steel 50's style portable diners that we see so many of today. Avenue Diner takes this tradition a step further and goes far and beyond what we know as the classic "all-American diner" and perhaps can be best thought of as a whole new category in the yellow pages under "gourmet comfort food". At Avenue, we take honest flavourful food, which is synonymous with a good diner, and add our own modernized, epicurean spin on it, resulting in food that not only makes people feel good, but it's nutritious, delicious and beautiful to boot.
